Happy August,

Blink and you'll miss it, that's the way we are viewing 2015. Can it really be possible that we are well into the back half of 2015? Is it too early to book Christmas holidays?

These are the questions I'm asking myself today as I sit here writing to you all. It's easy to see why Expressway Signs doesn't have time to blink. We're currently rebranding... yes still! [Peanut gallery laughs and applauds]. But, I'm happy to report our rebrand is on schedule for an August release. The good news about our delayed rebrand is our customers have been getting serviced before ourselves. Have you ever heard the analogy of the mechanics wife who's car never gets serviced because her husband is always prioritising other peoples cars? Well that's a little how it is here. We're putting our clients first each and every day.

Some exciting news internally is we're about to purchase some very interesting equipment to increase our efficiency (more next issue) and we've employed three apprentices in an investment in the future of Expressway Signs and those individuals futures.

Take care

Mystery surrounds McDonald's 'coming soon' sign in Simpson Desert

A mysterious sign was set up in the Simpson Desert Conservation Park. Midway along the most popular 'road' that crosses the Simpson, more than 200 kilometres into the desert, a large sign has been erected atop a 15-metre-high dune.

Easily seen for kilometres in every direction it leaves visitors to believe that some time soon they will be able to ditch damper for a double cheeseburger.

But McDonald's spokesman Chris Grant said the sign was a mystery to the company. he said. "I can assure you it is nothing to do with us. The font and the style used on the sign is not consistent with our branding and it serves us no purpose." "It's beyond us why anyone would go to the time and effort to install a sign like this," Mr Grant said.

So despite the professional look of the sign, complete with an emergency bag of burgers stashed behind a breakable case, it seems that someone has gone to considerable time and expense to install the now well-photographed prank.

SA Environment Minister Ian Hunter said he would have Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources staff investigate the sign and its removal. So if you plan to cross the Simpson in search of fast food, hurry, it is for a limited time only.
